DMAA (1, 4-Dimethylamylamine) is a synthetic neural stimulant. It is essentially an aliphatic amine with a structure similar to amphetamine. Research has demonstrated that DMAA has high bioavailability (it takes less time to be absorbed by the bloodstream). Its half-life is 8.5 hours. DMAA was originally introduced to the market in the 1940s. Back then, it was intended to be a nasal decongestant. Initial studies highlighted the potential of DMAA to clear nasal airways, convincing the FDA to approve the compound. However, the approval was later on withdrawn. DMAA, especially in combination with other stimulants such as caffeine, has undergone various clinical studies. These studies have shown that it can potentially decrease LDL cholesterol levels, facilitate fat burning, and improve short-term memory and reflexes in healthy adults.
